Dresenower Mühle 9, 19395 Ganzlin, Germany

More than just its size makes Lake Plauer impressive. This sizable lake, clocking in as the third-largest in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the seventh largest in all of Germany, stretches over nearly 39 square kilometres. Located at the entrance to the Mecklenburg Lake District, it's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts - swimmers, surfers, paddlers, and boaters can all enjoy the waters, while scuba divers will find hidden gems beneath the surface. This glacial lake, formed during the Ice Age, offers something for everyone.

Teeming with life, the lake boasts an average depth of around 6.8 metres, with its deepest point reaching over 25 metres. This provides a perfect habitat for a variety of aquatic creatures. Ospreys, sea eagles, blue tits, and bats paint the skies above, while otters thrive along the shores. The surrounding landscapes are equally inspiring, featuring mystical-looking moorland areas like the one in Plauer Stadtwald. This 315-hectare nature reserve, located near Ganzlin, transports you to an enchanted world adorned with black alders and beeches.
