The More Hotel Västra Hamnen, Lilla Varvsgatan 26, 211 19 Malmö, Sweden

Once a former shipyard, the Västra Hamnen (Western Harbour) neighbourhood is now a trendy locale dotted with modern architecture and green spaces - don’t miss a stroll along the seaside promenade or a selfie with the futuristic Turning Torso skyscraper, one of the tallest buildings in Scandinavia. Another must-visit neighbourhood is the old town, Gamla Staden. Located on an island in the centre of the city, it’s where you’ll find Malmö’s oldest building, the 14th century Gothic Church of Saint Peter, and picturesque Lilla Torg, a cobblestone square packed with plenty of pretty cafés and restaurants.

Art fans and culture vultures will be right at home here, with a bevy of galleries and museums to explore: the Moderna Museet has artworks from both local and international artists, whilst Malmö Castle is a Renaissance fortress that now houses a natural history museum, an art museum and an aquarium. If you want to really dive back in time, enjoy dinner at Årstiderna, a restaurant in the atmospheric cellar of one of the city’s oldest buildings. For trendier eats, try Kasai in the Sky, a Japanese fusion restaurant and cocktail bar with a rooftop terrace and views all the way to Copenhagen on clear days.
